'Twas the night before Thanksgiving and the hostess was tired,
But glad that her prep had turned out as desired.
The potatoes were peeled and the veggies were cleaned,
And the baking was done for she'd worked like a fiend.
She had stirred, she had whipped, she had measured and tasted -
May none of her efforts for the feasting be wasted.
Caramel and nutmeg and cranberry, too,
Orange and clove in the air through and through.
The counters were cleared and the plates counted right,
The flowers arranged and the tablecloths bright,
The bathroom so fresh and the floors spic and span,
She had toiled and pushed through like no one else can.
Then she hung up her apron and hid out of sight
Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good night.
