The following referrals were issued in IAC Session 320 which was held on May 21, 2015:
1) German dossier from February 2011 referred a male child aged 1 year and 5 months with features in health status
2) US dossier from December 2011 referred two waiting children (#2458 & #2459) with profiles on the MOJ site
3) Italian dossier from May 2012 referred a male child aged 3 years with features in health status
4) Canadian dossier from January 2014 referred a male child aged 2 years with features in health status
5) US dossier from April 2014 referred a male child aged 1 year and 7 months with features in health status and a family history
6) US dossier from May 2014 referred a female child aged 1 year and 7 months with features in health status and a family history
7) US dossier from July 2014 referred a brother and sister aged 1 year and 6 months & 4 years and 4 months with features in health status and a family history
8) US dossier from September 2014 referred twin sisters aged 3 years with features in health status
9) US dossier from February 2015 referred three children, male and female, aged 4 years & 7 years and 2 months & 5 years and 8 months with features in health status
10) US dossier from May 2015 referred a waiting child (#2441) with a profile on the MOJ site
11) US dossier from May 2015 referred a waiting child (#2120) with a profile on the MOJ site
12) US dossier from May 2015 referred a waiting child (#2697) with a profile on the MOJ site

"Features in the health status" means they are not healthy in Bulgaria's eyes, correct? Our first referral had quite a few spec needs, and when we updated our home study just last week we expanded our parameters even more. We should've done it last year, but we had gotten a referral and didn't see the need. Then when we had our whole fiasco we took some time to just grieve and didn't push for a referral. Now we feel really ready and our parameters are even wider so hopefully soon.

ReplyDeleteFeatures in health status can mean absolutely anything from a mild limb difference (like a club foot) to being born with an STD to prematurity to heart defects to Down Syndrome. Some conditions would only be an issue in the estimation of MOJ, others are considered a true special need anywhere. Unfortunately, we cannot know from this information how severe any given child's needs are, but considering the short wait times for some of these referrals, I would imagine some issues are either non-correctable or moderate/severe.
If you hopped over to the other blog I mentioned, you also saw the info on the new kids coming in to MOJ this year so far and the fact that only about 1/3 of them were under age 5 and only about half of those kids were considered to have no or mild special needs. A total of 35 kids under 5 that are healthy or have minor needs, waiting to be matched to one of hundreds of families hoping to adopt within those parameters.
Thanks! Yeah, I had that info sent to me a couple weeks ago. I know we've gotten one referral so we'll eventually get another one. Our sn list has grown substantially over the last 2 years. I think with Andrew getting older and me only working part time at a very flexible job, we feel much more equipped to deal with more. We've also raised our age range. That should've been done last year too, but ... Thanks for all the info and taking the time to translate.
DeleteI'm sure your number will be up again soon. You're coming up on almost 4 years registered and with broader parameters, you should have a sweet girl home in 2016.
