Today was registration day at Ella's home school school which means we chose her classes for the 2021/22 school year. Thus far, Ella has been attending on Wednesdays and Fridays which is when the school offers mostly electives and enrichment courses. After some discussions with her and the school counselor, however, she will be switching to Tuesdays and Thursdays for her first year of Junior High in the fall. Those days are more focused on core classes required for graduation.
So, next year Ella will be taking a seventh grade math class and a seventh grade class on Ancient World History with two of her favorite teachers. She's also been cleared into ASL 1 (high school level) and Ceramics 1 (high school level) to begin earning credit toward her diploma. She's very excited to be moving into the next phase of her education and a little worried about the homework load, but overall we think this will be a good change and challenge for her.
On the days she's going to be studying at home, our focus will be on language arts, science, and life skills. We will have the help of an intervention specialist for four hours a week, too, and are looking forward to seeing Ella grow.
