Armenian Cucumbers

I planted these cucumbers as a tribute to Rex and his birth country this year.  Lo and behold, we are going to be able to enjoy a harvest.

And this evening we had our first home-grown tomatoes and fresh basil from the garden.  What a long-awaited flavor explosion!

  1. Viviane they are called "Gootah" and you can make an Armenian Summer salad by chopping the Gootah, tomatoes, and red onion. Marinate with pure virgin olive oil, (if you cannot find Armenian olive oil go to a Greek deli) and balsamic vinergette. Although many of us in Armenia use a pomagranete vinergette as they are a sacred symbolic fruit to us.
Top and sprinkle with fresh basil and Feta Cheese (again if you cannot find Armenian Feta get Greek or Bulgarian Feta)
The Bulgarians have a good smooth Feta Cheese
